To look like a diva, you do not have to invest heavily on luxurious brands because even a simple ‘fruit salad’ dress can raise your oomph factor by several notches this summer. All said and done, to be a true fashionista you need to first of all combat that blank look when your friends talk about ‘skorts’ and ‘dope’.
Boyfriend Fashion
Girls, here we are talking about clothes, yes, clothes. We, girls, love our guys and their clothes. This term probably became popular due to our love for our men and Boyfriend fashion is not limited to boyfriend jeans or blazers. Its origin is literally borrowing and wearing a boyfriend’s clothes. They are generally unisex or looser in fit than most women’s garments but designed for the female form. Boyfriend could be defined as even a style of women’s clothing that was modified from a corresponding men’s garment.
Usage: "Boyfriend shirts and jeans is just my thing for summer”.
‘Fruit Salad’ is not a bowl of fruits
The term fruit salad is used to mean the use of fruit prints on apparel. It could be a cocktail of mixed prints which are big and bold as well.
Usage: Faint-hearted souls are not meant for the fruit salad trend.
'Flou' is not Flow
Flou is simply the short form for fluorescent coloured clothes. It could be a long summer dress, summer jacket or even hot pants. But peeps, please do not confuse the word with ‘flow’.
Usage: Flou will never be out of fashion.
Ferosh
The word Ferosh is used to describe ‘fierce’ and ‘ferociousness’. This bold term was popularized by Project Runway’s Christian Siriano.
Usage: Zara’s summer collection is absolutely ferosh!
Silhouette
We know what it means! Do we really know it? Silhouette is nothing elaborate but just the contour or outline of a piece of clothing.
Usage: A cocoon coat's silhouette is generally rounded, while a shift dress has a straight and mostly shapeless silhouette.
Skort
Skort is a combination of a skirt and shorts, which usually comes with a flap over the front to give the illusion of a skirt. However, it is divided at the leg as shorts.
Usage: “Female tennis players love their skorts for their high comfort factor.”
Haute Couture
It’s the business of designing and selling custom-made clothes for private customers. This type of clothing is probably not for everyone unless you are Katy Perry in couture Valentino at the Grammys. To be considered as a ‘haute couture’ house under French law, the brand must employ 15 or more people and present their collection twice a year. But we can all drool over them like a fashionista! Chanel, Christian Dior, Valentino, and the like, gives us a chance to swoon longingly during couture seasons.
