Auli
Auli is a ski destination in Chamoli district in the Himalayan Mountains of Uttarakhand. It is one of the very few places in India where skiing is a major pastime. The harsh cold winds, the vast snow-covered landscape, the sylvan mountains, all add up to make Auli a skier's paradise. Also known as Auli Bugyal, in Garhwali, which means "meadow".
Auli lies on the way to the Hindu pilgrimage destination of Badrinath. It is encompassed by coniferous and oak forests, with a panoramic view of the peaks of the Himalayas. Closeby attractions include Vishnu Prayag, Gorson Bugyal, Kuari Pass, Joshimath, Badrinath, and Tapovan.
