For the past many days, many states of East India have been receiving on and off rains. Few areas of Bihar, Jharkhand and almost complete Gangetic West Bengal have received good rainfall.
These rains are caused due to the presence of cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast and adjoining West Bengal coast. The weather system persists up to 5.8kms above mean sea level.
Due to the presence of this system, in the last 24 hours, scattered rainfall has been recorded over South Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. The weather system is likely to persist over the same area. So we can say that the rainfall will also continue over most parts of East India.
The intensity of this rainfall spell will be mainly light to moderate over Bihar.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on October 9 to 08:30 am on October 10, few places in Bihar received good rainfall like Gaya received 64 mm of rainfall and Supaul recorded 72 mm.
In the same time period, Jamshedpur recorded 12.6 mm of rain. Many areas in West Bengal recorded good rainfall like Darjeeling recorded, 7.8 mm of rainfall, Diamond Harbour in Gangetic West Bengal recorded 58.6 mm of rainfall, Digha 38.8 mm and Midnapore recorded 11.4 mm of rains.
