Parts of the state’s north-west, such as Mildura, were seen following a week of temperatures into the 40's and are expected to hit 44c. Fire danger was seen around Melbourne and central north and western parts of the state as no winds were to be felt in any of these parts.

According to reports, the real danger is heat and humidity which is expected to continue for the next 36 hours. People have been asked to drink plenty of water, stay inside if possible and not leave pets or children in cars. In extreme conditions like homeless people seen in heat distress, people are asked to call triple zero.

Beachgoers and festivalgoers have also been warned about extreme conditions as a mass drug overdose at a Melbourne dance party was seen a few days back and that drugs, alcohol and extreme heat were a dangerous combination.

Authorities were warned as an out-of-control bushfire was seen in the south-east of Adelaide on Sunday afternoon. In South Australia, total fire bans were declared. Adelaide experienced its second heat wave this month which led to the hospitalization of 40 people.

However, elsewhere in the states, conditions were expected to reach into the mid-30s, but the north of South Australia would remain very hot.
