Yoga and its effect on Blood Pressure and Sugar

Moreover, yoga training can help in lowering the high blood pressure problem. According to a study by Indian-origin researchers, one year of yoga training may be very helpful for people suffering from increased blood pressure or high blood sugar. Along with this, one year of yoga training also decreases pro-inflammatory adipokines - signaling proteins released by fat tissue. Moreover, it also increases an anti-inflammatory adipokine in adults with metabolic syndrome and high-normal blood pressure.

The researchers mentioned that the findings support the beneficial role of yoga in managing metabolic syndrome by favorably modulating adipokine. By metabolic syndrome we mean a cluster of conditions - increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist and abnormal cholesterol that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

Researchers have also investigated and suggested that yoga effects very influentially on people suffering from metabolic syndrome with high-normal blood pressure by exploring modulations in pro-inflammatory adipokines and an anti-inflammatory adipokine.

Participants in the yoga group go through a yoga training programme with three one-hour yoga sessions weekly for a year.
