Stress does not only keep you down but makes your body turn fat as a football. Even after all your efforts of eating well and exercising, stress prevents your quest of losing weight, it may even add a few pounds. Every time you face a stressful day, your cells release potent hormones which make you hungry, ultimately leading to weight gain. On Wellness Wednesday, we bring you 8 ways to beat the stress fat.

Move That Body

Yes, you are right, moving the muscles relieve stress instantly. The ideal thing to do would be push-ups, but if that is not possible, flex your calf muscles and move the cortisol along. Even taking a stroll during lunch break. All this makes your body think you are escaping stress. Go ahead, don’t let stress take you down.

Power Breakfast

When stress keeps you down, you need to fight it down to its grave with good breakfast. Whole grains, strawberries, low fat yoghurt and a toast or bagel. Add all these items in your power breakfast. This way your body gets vitamins, calcium and magnesium, all in one meal.

Say Goodbye To Strict Diet for Some Time

Well we may sound ironic but staying on a restricted diet makes you go cranky. When your body is deprived of sugar, there is no self-control left in you and stress and worry takes charge. What to do? Well, stop strict dieting and gorge on healthy meals and healthy snacks all throughout the day, this way you won’t be hungry and will still be able to shed those extra pounds.

Good Music

Stress making you feel blue? Well, all you need to do is to listen to some good upbeat music. Nothing cheers you up better than the sound of music. No stress will ultimately stop your craving for food and stress fat will simply go away.

Eat Slowly

When you are too stressed, you tend to eat too quickly. This means more portions and an even larger belly. Research suggests savouring every bite, and enjoying food may help in reducing the amount of food eaten by you. This distributes the amount of fat equally in your body rather than simply sitting on the belly.

Feed Your Sweet Tooth Just a Little Bit

When Stress leaves you hungry, angry and worried, you may want to try out a bowl of ice cream or a small chocolate bar. When you feel better, stop right there. Buy just a chocolate bar instead of stacking your refrigerator with ten.

Cut Down on Caffeine

Stress and Caffeine are the perfect combination to make you extremely fat. Caffeine raises your cortisol levels by nearly 25% and you know this will lead to eating a lot. So, to remain healthy you may want to say no to caffeine altogether.

Sleep Tight

The best way to bid farewell to stress is sleeping for good 7 – 8 hours. Lack of sleep awakens the hunger boosting hormone. Just a few nights of balanced sleep can bring you back on track. Getting enough sleep regularly will make you feel better and help you eat less too.

Wellness Wednesday is all about keeping your mind and body healthy. Stay stress free, stay happy!
