It’s Sugarless Saturday! Don’t you think it’s high time you bid adieu to that jar of half empty Nutella sitting in your fridge. The almost empty sugar pot needs no refilling if you make up your mind. Haven’t you heard all the news about how bad is sugar for you. It’s hard to leave the addiction for sugar behind but it is not impossible after all. We bring you 10 not so difficult tips to get rid of the sugar addiction.

Say No To packaged Foods

Don’t be fooled by the term ‘organic’ or ‘sugar free’ on the labels of packaged foods. Instead of buying these foods and stacking your refrigerator, we suggest you to go eat a fruit or go for a salad snack instead. Go for eggs and toast or sip in a hot cup of soup. You need to be aware of the sugar content in these food items.

Eat Plenty of Proteins and Vegetables

If you eat a healthy meal with enough proteins and vegetables in it, you definitely won’t crave for sugar at all. You don’t just need to remove sugar, and refined flour from your diet but you also need to add good food items to your daily diet. To enjoy good health you need to have a wholesome meal without adding sugar in it.

Get Hold of Those Cravings

We know it is not too easy to deal with those sudden cravings for sweet stuff. But once you deal with those cravings for a week or so, you will not feel the need to add sugar in your daily diet. To maintain your sugar levels, you can simply add a few carbs to your diet. It does not necessarily need to be a spoon of sugar after all.

Have a Great Sugarless Meal

If you think that your meal cannot be wholesome and tasty without sugar, you are mistaken. Stews, soups, roasted chicken, sautéed vegetables, toasted nuts and unsweetened yoghurt. Sounds yummy, doesn’t it? There is so much to savour, so don’t cry over sugar, there’s more to food.

Don’t Consume Sweetened Drinks

Soda drinks and sweetened drinks have a lot of sugar content in them. One can of sweetened soda contains about 10 teaspoons of sugar. Don’t you think, you are better off without it? If you stop consuming soft drinks, it becomes much easier to get rid off the sugar addiction.

Eat Out with Care

Don’t think that eating a salad at a restaurant is doing you any good. Do you realize the amount of sugar and unhealthy fat that dressing contains? You better stick to roasted vegetables or grilled meat, which do not contain much sugar content.

Take a Week Off Sugar

There are times when you try to reduce the sugar consumption but can only consume just a little less than you initially used to. What to do now? Well, you can simply take a week off from sugar. Go sugarless for a week and notice the difference in your cravings. You will be thankful.

Stay Busy

Is the sugar craving keeping you distracted? Well, you could simply go out for a walk, listen to some good music or read a good book. As long as you stay busy, your mind and your stomach won’t ask for sugar. Life is as much fun without sugar, trust me!

Follow the 2 Teaspoon Rule

Does it get way too hard for you to deal with the cravings for sugar. Well, you do not have to completely stop consuming sugar. Instead, you could follow the two teaspoon sugar a day. You could also go for substitutes like Maple Syrup, Raw Honey or coconut sugar. They are less addictive and do not raise your sugar level too much.

Ask a Loved One To Join the Challenge

We know it gets a little too difficult to simply stop consuming sugar all of a sudden. You could ask you friend, your partner or a family member to join the quest. It will get way easier to deal with those sugar cravings. Also, you can eat the same food together.

Enjoy a healthy life without consuming too much sugar. After all, Sugarless Saturdays are all about saying goodbye to the sugar need.
