Monsoon is here and so are the many diseases that the season brings along with it.  But you don’t need to worry if you keep a check on the foods you eat. Eating right and avoiding fast food is the best thing you can do to make Monsoon a disease free season. Check out some simple ways to maintain your digestive system

Rather than eating those hot and tempting fried pakodas, you should eat something light to keep your digestive tract in check during Monsoon. Add vegetables and fruits to your diet, eating food items like pulses and rice is also a great option. The idea is to eat foods that can be digested easily. If you eat green leafy vegetables, make sure you clean them properly before consuming them.

During Monsoon, instead of using mustard oil, butter or peanut oil, that generate heat within your body, choose lighter oils that are easily digestible. Use oils including olive oil, ghee or sunflower oil for the maintenance of your digestive systems.

You may have heard more than once that you must avoid roadside foods during Monsoon. For a few months, give those delicious but unhealthy at the same time foods a miss. Bhel Puri or Paani Puri can wait for some time. One of the main reasons for various diseases during this season is contamination of food.

Washing fruits before eating them is an important practice for staying healthy during all seasons. But during Monsoon, it becomes all the more important to ensure that you thoroughly wash fruits before eating them. You don’t want to pay the price of being sick after eating something which is considered so healthy.

Another important thing you must do is keep yourself hydrated. Even during Monsoon, it is very important to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water. Water helps in dissolving soluble fiber and fats, helping them to pass through quite easily.

Follow the aforementioned steps and bid adieu to the many Monsoon diseases.
