The hot, humid weather during summer is a good season for bacteria as they tend to multiply faster in these conditions. Food poisoning is one of the most common diseases during the summer season. Food poisoning can get quite serious if not treated on time. So, how do you avoid it? How do you prevent it from spoiling your summer fun? We have it covered for you, we bring you ways to keep your food fresh during the summer season.
To keep your salads and meat fresh and safe, all you need to do is keep them in the fridge covered at around 5°C or even less. The moment you get frozen food home, make sure you refrigerate it right then. Also, try to limit the number of times you open your refrigerator.
When reheating foods, make sure you reheat them properly so that they are steaming/boiling. Also, when you are about to cook frozen food, ensure to thaw it properly before you start cooking them. Also, when you are storing raw meat in the fridge, keep it far away from cooked food. We are sure you don’t want the raw meat juices to drip into cooked food and spoil it.
Also, make sure you use separate chopping boards to cut vegetables and raw meat. This way, the juices don’t mix up and the raw meat bacteria do not enter your vegetables. Before you cut any vegetables, wash them thoroughly.
Do not under any circumstances overfill your fridge. Leave enough room for proper air circulation so that all the food inside the fridge remains fresh. After you are done eating, keep the leftover inside the fridge. Do not leave it outside for long. Also, do not eat leftovers that have been left in the fridge for more than 2 days, you don’t want to spend the night in a hospital.
Lastly, if you do not feel well, do not participate in any process of handling food. Also, switch to hydrating fruits and drink enough water. Do not overeat the food. This summer, eat fresh and have a disease free season.
