Eating eggs every day won’t hurt your heart, a study has revealed. Even people who are genetically inclined towards coronary diseases can consume eggs without the fear of having a heart attack.

There is no co-relation between having high cholesterol meals or eating an egg every day and the thickening of carotid artery walls or an increased risk of developing a coronary heart disease.

Research also showed that even the genetically inclined to have a greater risk of heart diseases could frequently eat eggs.

Also, the findings of the study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition revealed that even among the ones with the APOE4 phenotype there was no association of heart diseases.  APOE4 phenotype affects cholesterol metabolism.

The dietary habits of 1,032 men aged between 42 and 60 years without a diagnosis of a cardiovascular disease were studied. However, at the time of a follow-up of 21 years, 32.5 per cent participants were carriers of APOE4, while 230 men had a myocardial infarction.

Eggs are considered to be an important source of dietary cholesterol. However, they are not in any way linked to the cause of heart attacks. In fact, during the study, the highest control group consumed, at least, one egg every day with an average cholesterol of 520 mg.
