5 On-the-go workouts to stay fit

Long car rides, schedule of back to back meetings , long wait at the airport or simply relaxing at the poolside. You may have enough excuses to give the workout a miss but all you need is a two minute time out to do the following on-the-go workout. No exercise equipment or gym gear and you are all set to make most of the time squeezed between your busy schedules.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jumping Jacks

We have done them as kids and we can do them now when are crammed for time. Be it just before you get into a shower or you wanna kick yourself awake from your deep slumber or while relaxing at the poolside. Jumping jacks are a great source of keeping yourself fit. To make the exercise even more interesting, you can play the jumping jack song too. Though do not forget to have a small and quick warm up before the exercise. Start by 10 on the first day and aim for 50 jumping jacks by the end of 4th consecutive day. Who knows, you may break the world record of 27,000 jumping jacks in no time!

 

Bicep Curls

Have you heard of the ‘alternate dumbbells’ bicep curls? Who says you need dumbbells for bicep curls? You can attain toned biceps without dumbbells and that too by sitting on your desk. You just have to hold two full bottles, do a biceps curl, then lower. Repeat for a minute, relax and start doing it again till you have not completed five minutes on it. You can replicate the same with soda cans too and adjust the weight according to your pace.

 

Stretching

Whether you are stuck in a traffic jam or stressed at your work station. Don’t let the time pass by. Instead stretch for a while. Start by shrugging your shoulders, lifting them high up to your ears. Hold and then release. Inhale deeply while you are doing this. Once you are done with your shoulders, you can take up hamstring stretch too. Not only is this good for body but for mind as well.

 

Squats

If you are looking for some results – fast- then pick up squats as your favourite on-the-go workout. In your hotel room or steel sometime from your boring meeting, there is no better way to boost your overall fitness.  Simple to do and do anywhere, squats can burn more calories and help you gain muscles. Push-ups

Whether you are a busy mom or a boss at work. Finding out time for your fitness is in your hands and you would need to push yourself a bit further. Push-ups is the apt on-the-go workout for people like you who needs result in no time. This multipurpose exercise strengthens your arms, legs, abs and chest. Though remember to start slowly with this exercise and into a vigorous mode only after you have done it regularly for three or more days.
