The wintry weather has hit hard the Minnesota State Patrol that has recorded approximately 600 collisions from Saturday until Sunday.
In total close to 62 people have been injured though any news on severe bruises or fatalities is not yet in place.
As per the weatherman, after a mild November, the wintry weather has lashed the region really hard. As of now, the wintery weather has now moved and shifted to Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. Though a layer of snow is still likely to engulf the Great Lakes and the Northeast along with dipping temperatures.
Moreover, a storm system in the Great Plains is also likely to bring in the wintry chill to the Midwest, Great Lakes, and Northeast until Monday.
A band of hefty snow is also on cards to fall from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois eastward to upstate New York. A number of winter storm warnings and advisories have been issued for those areas.
As per the weatherman, traveling in these areas may be perilous. Chicago witnessed close to 3-4 inches of snow on Sunday morning which can enhance to 3- 5 inches on Monday. In fact, more than 1200 flights have also been canceled.
A plane also slid off the runway in Detroit. Indiana witnessed up to 5 inches of snowfall on Sunday with some more foreseen. Heaviest accumulation of snow of up to 10 inches can be mounted in Michigan. Moreover, up to 6 inches of snow can be expected over Cleveland however, three inches of snow is likely over Burlington and Vermont.
A mix of snow and chilly rains are expected to lash the Ohio River valley and Mid-Atlantic. Locals are advisable not to step on roads and stay cautious of the severe weather. Temperatures are also expected to fall 15-30 degrees below average along with cold rain and snow in days coming forth through much of the Midwest and East.
