Around 200,000 people were left without power. The storm resulted in 22.2 inches of snow in Washington. Also, 25.1 inches snow was dumped in New York's Central Park, which is the third highest accumulation since the year 1869.
Eleven states of emergency were declared across the region. Major cities of the East Coast were brought to a halt and thousands of flights were cancelled. Heavy snowfall is likely to be followed by flooding.
However, now, Jonas is heading towards towards Britain. But, instead of dumping snow over the region, storm Jonas is likely to add to the heavy rainfall in the United Kingdom. The region is already facing heavy rain and severe flooding is in the offing.
The UK Met Department has issued flood warnings for various areas including North-west England, Wales and Scotland. Jonas, which has already dumped more than two feet of snow in the United States is likely to affect Britain on Tuesday.

One in seven Americans could get at least half a foot of snow by Sunday, and Washington could see snowdrifts more than four feet high. According to meteorologists, Washington may brace itself for historic 30 inches of snow, beating the record 28 inches set in 1922.
More than 6,000 flights have been cancelled, giving way to heavy disruption to the weekend travel. More than a million people have lost power across the Southeast part of the United States. The storm may also cause more than $1 billion in damage.
Already touted as one of the historic winter storms in USA, Jonas is heading straight towards East Coast and is expected to dump over 2 feet of snow for Washington and New York City and a foot to 18 inches for Philadelphia.

Winter storm Jonas has already dumped as much as 18 inches of snow in western North Carolina and eastern Kentucky. Blizzard warnings are already in effect extending from Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia to New York City. Damaging ice and freezing rain are expected to lash to parts of East Coast besides the record snowfall.
