After the wet weekend across France, the weather will turn stormier from Sunday night into Monday. While showers will affect from Toulouse to Lyon and Marseille during the weekend another weather system will affect northwestern France bringing more rain with strong winds.
On Saturday, the city of Nantes will get more rain which has already exceeded the monthly average of 71 mm in the first seven days of January itself. The path of the weather system will be from the northwest to the southeast across the entire category.
The region along the coasts of Bretagne and Pays de la Loire and from Aquitaine to Rhone Alpes and Franche Comte can expect rainfall of upto 25 mm by Sunday evening. The northeastern portions including Paris will experience less rain.
More rain is expected to move from west to east on Sunday night into Monday from the Atlantic. This will prove beneficial for the ski resorts in the French Alps where at least a couple of feet of snow is expected to occur. Travel disruption is possible but the rain will not be heavy enough to cause widespread flash flooding.
However, the system that will affect from Sunday night will not produce much rain but will bring in gusty winds of upto 95 kmph. These winds have the potential to cause power outages and uproot trees.
