The neighbouring nation of Bangladesh has seen some heavy to extremely heavy rains in the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Srimangal saw 120 mm of rains with Sylhet recording 36 mm of rainfall during the same time frame.

Now, these heavy showers will continue for another 24 hours, which means today as well as tomorrow will see similar weather conditions. Thereafter, the rainfall intensity of rains will start decreasing.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the presence of Cyclonic Circulation over eastern parts of Bangladesh and adjoining Tripura and Assam. Moreover, strong winds from the southwest direction, i.e. the Bay of Bengal are also resulting in the increase of moisture over the nation.

Flooding situation may arise in some parts of Bangladesh as some parts of the country may see rains even above the 100mm-mark during the next 24 hours. Rains may see a decrease gradually but weather is not expected to not go completely dry over the nation until the onset of Monsoon.

The onset of Monsoon is between June 1 and June 5 over Bangladesh. Monsoon may get delayed over Bangladesh but the rainy episode will continue over the nation in the coming days.
