It seems like Buffalo snow is in hiding somewhere, as no measurable snow has occurred in the snowy city till December 7. In fact, balmy weather conditions have taken over. The last time it didn’t snow until this time was on December 3, 1899. Buffalo has broken 116-year-old no snow show record, taking social media by storm.
Last year, by the end of November, Buffalo was blanketed with 80 inches of snow, due to an extreme lake event. More than a dozen people were killed due to massive snowfall and the National Guard was called for removing inches of snow from the streets.
This year, not only has Buffalo broken the 116 year-old-record but has shattered it. If reports are to be believed, the next seven to ten days are likely to witness a no snow show affair. Dust of snow was recorded in October and November, but the amount did not reach a measurable level. Measurable snow means around 0.1 inches of snowfall in a day.
In the past years, Buffalo has been covered in snow during these months due to its proximity with Lake Erie. The city has recorded around 14 to 24 inches of snow in the previous years in a single day during the months of October and November.

Am I really about to go home for thanksgiving to no snow in Buffalo? I never thought I'd say this.... But I'm actually sad about it

As per experts, the sole reason for the lack of snow is a strong El Nino. This year, El Nino is likely to be the strongest in the last 20 years. Not only this, this year, Buffalo has witnessed the seventh warmest and third driest November on record.
A no snow show does not necessarily indicate a mild winter, it merely implies that the onset of the season will be delayed. While no snowfall has come as a surprise to the residents of Buffalo, the news has not been a disappointing one.
