UK Spring Forecast: Dry weather in North, chances of flood in South

February 23, 2016 12:49 PM |

Uk-weather-forecast-rain-220179The UK has seen a number of named storms this winter season. These storms have caused power outages. Heavy rain and wintery conditions have caused travel disruptions across the region.

Northern England’s most significant impact this winter season was during Christmas when relentless heavy rain caused widespread flooding. From December 1 to February 14 places like Keswick and Cumbria received more rain than double of the average of the entire winter season.

Now during the spring time, heavy rain is likely to ease out across Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Normal weather pattern will occur, with rain and snowfall being subdued across the northern region.

During the first half of March, some storms may affect the region and this will cause some problems. Things will improve during the mid to late season. This will allow the people to deal with the flood situation. Northern Ireland and Scotland will experience longer stretches of settled weather conditions, unlike the winter season.

To the southern and eastern portions of UK, this spring season will be a rainy one. The west Midlands and Southwest will face high chances of flooding but it will not be as severe as seen in the north during the winters. Mild conditions will affect the southern portions of UK and prolonged warm spell is not expected until late April and early May.
