As Hurricane Irma has been wreaking havoc and claiming several lives after developing in the Atlantic, a typhoon has formed in the Pacific and is all set to target Taiwan and Southeast China soon. During the second half of the week, both Taiwan and Southeast China will be affected by Typhoon Talim.
At present, Typhoon Talim is located at least 400 miles east of Taiwan. As per weather experts, Talim is likely to intensify even further. The system is now tracking northwest towards Taiwan and will continue to do so during the next few days.
Weathermen have also been saying that before Talim reaches Taiwan, the typhoon will intensify quite intensely as the weather conditions are quite favourable for further intensification of the system.

The main element for intensification will be the warm waters. Along with this, wind shear will also act as a favourable agent for Irma’s intensification.
During the next 24 hours or so, both rain intensity and wind speed will increase immensely over Taiwan. Heaviest rainfall will be seen during the late night hours of Wednesday and Thursday when Talim will pass north of Taiwan.
Rains of around 10 to 20 cm are expected in areas of North Taiwan which also includes the capital city Taipei. Localized flooding is also possible in some parts. Higher reaches can witness rains over 30 cm or so. Heavy rains may also trigger mudslides in many parts.
