Typhoon Noul made landfall in Philippines on Sunday and gradually began to weaken thereafter. About 3800 people were sheltered in evacuation centres before the Typhoon’s arrival. So far, two people have been reported dead after Noul hit northeastern Philippines. Various armed forces divisions of the country were on red alert to take necessary steps in the aftermath of the storm.
Noul, known as Dodong in Philippines, had maximum sustained wind speed of 200 kmph during landfall.
However, the storm has now weakened and is headed towards Japan. Parts of the country, including Central and northern Japan will observe rain on Tuesday, followed by more light rain in the region.
Another storm Brewing
Meanwhile, another Tropical storm, named Dolphin, is brewing in the Western Pacific and is currently located 9.8°N and 160°E. It has just graduated to a tropical storm, and is expected to strengthen further in the next 3 to 4 days.
The tropical storm Dolphin is most likely to become a Typhoon, but, since the system is brewing in the open seas, it won’t cause much damage. The storm will now move westwards likely to attain the Typhoon status after 72 hours, while still remaining in the sea. The system may affect parts of Philippines after it has attained the status of a Typhoon.
