Typhoon Kalmaegi makes landfall over Luzon, Storm Fung-Wong forms in West Pacific

Fung Wong

Typhoon Kalmaegi made a landfall over Luzon, weakening into a Tropical thereafter. After making landfall, Kalmaegi is centred at 17.4 degree N and 121.6 degree East close to Tuao, which is about 300 km North northeast of Manila.

The storm was a slow moving one, and is currently shifting southwestwards. It will spend another 6 hours to crossover from the land to the South China Sea. When it moves into the sea, it will weaken into a Depression and even a Low Pressure Area, thereafter.

The depression in the Western Pacific which was there has become a Tropical storm, named Fung-Wong. The storm is currently centred east of Manila, about 750 km away in the open sea. Fung-Wong is currently moving northwestwards, unlike the previous one. The storm will spare both Philippines as well as Taiwan. The storm will move across between the two in the Pacific.

Fung-Wong is currently centred at 15.9 degree North and 128.3 degrees East. Thus, it means that both the storms are in close proximity of each other, but their movements are different and while one is decaying, and the other is becoming stronger. Also, Kalmaegi is moving southwestwards, and Fung-Wong going northwestwards, going further away from one another.

Fung-Wong will mostly move through sea, keeping Philippines at a safe distance on the left. After about two to three days, will reach short of Taiwan but will not directly hit the region. After that, it will be on a weakening spree.
