Typhoon Hato rattles Macau, Hong Kong; 16 killed

Typhoon Hato was the strongest typhoon to have hit parts of southern China in 50 years. The storm kept on wreaking devastation on Thursday. Not only this, the typhoon left 16 individuals dead, along with which several were harmed and thousands were forced to flee from their homes.

This strong Typhoon Hato has caused immense damage to Macau along with the city of Hong Kong on Wednesday. However, Guangdong province also bore the brunt of the devastating typhoon.

As per Xinhua State News, Chinese authorities called for endeavors to make preparations for natural calamities including floods, as well as landslides.

Parts of Guangdong were expected to witness rains up to 300 mm along with areas in the neighbouring province of Guangxi.

At least eight people have been reported to have been killed in Mainland China along with another eight being dead in the gambling hub of Macau.

Power outage was witnessed across the entire city of Macau. So much so that casinos which are usually full of people could not even start their generators properly.

Along with no electricity, several areas also remained without water. Two million people saw power outages. As per reports, 153 people were reported in Macau, while Hong Kong saw 120 injuries.
