Chaba lashed the Ryukyu Islands on Monday night, bringing stormy weather conditions. Thereafter, it weakened but people in Japan and South Korea should not let their guard down.
The powerful storm is likely to bring in its wake damaging winds and torrential rains over the mainland of Japan and South Korea throughout this week.
Shipping interests across the East China Sea will be affected due to turbulent waters, powerful winds and torrential rains.
Chaba is expected to turn towards mainland Japan and southern parts of South Korea by Tuesday, as it moves across the East China Sea.
Chaba will move through the Strait of Korea Strait on Wednesday. Thereafter, it will barrel into the Sea of Japan and make landfall in the western Honshu on Wednesday night.
Though it has weakened, Chaba will continue to remain a powerful typhoon and possess immense power to cause damage over both both South Korea and Japan.
The worst affected areas in Japan will include Kyushu, Shikoku and southwestern Honshu for the next two days.
