A tropical storm Selma has formed South of El Salvador on Friday and is likely to move northward direction this weekend.
The storm will damage a part of Central America with extremely heavy rain during the weekend. Heavy rain is likely to increase in intensity over El Salvador and Guatemala on Saturday before the storm actually makes its landfall.

Selma is likely to make a landfall on Saturday near the border of El Salvador and Guatemala. If the storm moves more towards the west into Central or Western Guatemala, the landfall may be delayed until afternoon or evening.
The Pacific Ocean may let Selma become stronger to some extent, but due to its short duration over the ocean, it is expected to avoid rapid solidification. With the storm hitting the ocean, it will be an alarming situation for divers and boatmen along and off the coast of Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua on Saturday.
Extremely heavy flooding rain and landslides will still hamper lives and property in parts of Central America. The airline commuters should be ready for flight delays and cancellations in San Salvador.
It is expected that 100-200 mm of rain is likely to hit El Salvador and Guatemala on Saturday night. The intensity of rain maybe even more in the mountains.
Heavy rain will also spread across the remaining parts of Guatemala, Honduras, and Western Nicaragua during the beginning of the weekend. Hefty showers may also reach the northern coast of Honduras by Saturday night.
Along with the extremely heavy rain, strong winds will complement Selma onshore. The strong winds are likely to damage property. In not more than 48 hours after the formation, the storm is expected to reach over the mountains of Central America by Sunday.
