Packing 80 miles for each hour winds and further moving northwest at 22 mph, the Category 1 tropical storm is 345 miles south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi Stream, in the southern Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center said in its most recent advisory, around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Moreover, the Tropical Storm Nate could drop 3 to 6 inches of rain, with 10 inches possible in a few zones, from the central Gulf Coast north through the Deep South, the eastern Tennessee Valley and the southern Appalachians over the weekend into Monday, perhaps bringing storm surges flooding, according to the CNN meteorological officials.
