Tropical storm Danielle will produce heavy rain which will increase the threat of life threatening mudslides across parts of central and eastern Mexico during the midweek.
Danielle made landfall as a tropical storm along the eastern coast of Mexico on Monday. While the storm has weakened, the remnants of the storm will continue to cause locally heavy downpours across the region on Wednesday.
The threat of severe flooding and mudslides will remain high with more than 150 mm of rainfall expected over some locations the states which will be most affected by heavy rain, flooding and mudslides include Hildago, Tlaxcala and Veracruz. As the moisture from the storm strike the mountains of eastern Mexico the rainfall will get enhanced which will only lead to increased threat of flooding and mudslides across the region.
The weather forecast for Wednesday might be of some relief as the conditions are expected to calm down gradually when the usual afternoon thunderstorms will replace the heavy downpours. But this might be short lived. Another spell of heavy rain will originate from the Yucatan Peninsula later this week and needs to be closely monitored as it could have the potential to develop into a tropical storm.
