United Kingdom’s most popular Farnborough International Airshow was called off the very first day after the site was flooded with extremely heavy rains.

This flypast which is expected to run for the entire week in Hampshire opened on Monday and is expected to commence until Sunday July 17. This biennial event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, David Cameron, on Monday after which it was obstructed by heavenly showers.

As per the Meteorological Department, heavy downpours were caused due to a deep low-pressure area formed across Scotland that pulled the warm air in from the Atlantic Azores islands close to Portugal. However, pre- warnings for heavy rains in parts of Farnborough town along with threat of windstorms across the coasts were already announced by the weather forecasters.

The event organizers also claimed that it was disheartening to shut down the airshow early on the opening day due to hefty rains. Although Monday’s trade events are rescheduled to commence the next day and during the entire next week. The organizers have made the opening day’s tickets validated the next day for viewers.

This show was also the apple of eye for UK from the business perspective. Previously, Virgin Atlantic also proclaimed of purchasing 12 Airbus A350-1000 planes which Prime Minister, David Cameron welcomed with arms wide open stating it would be a great source of employment in the UK.
