It was a snowy day for the residents of Tokyo, and that too for the first time in the month of November long. So long, that the last time it snowed during the month of November was in the year 1962. Since then, the city hasn’t seen snow in November.
Usually, temperatures range between 10 and 18 degree Celsius, which is why, this was a surprise for the residents of the capital city of Japan. Residents were seen wearing layers and boots.
While 54 years may not sound too long, but if you come to think, the first time it snowed, Tokyo did not have skyscrapers and the United States was under the watchdog of John F. Kennedy, the then President.
Twitterati also reacted on Tokyo snow, and it was quite clear that they were taken aback with the sudden snowfall in the city.

The snow had only begun as a sleet, however, soon it was converted into snow and the temperatures had gone down, very close to the freezing point. While Tokyo does witness snow at least once a year, it usually occurs during the months of January and February. Not only this, the snow accumulation does not take place for a long time.
