High pressure along with dry weather will be experienced across UAE and Oman during the start of this week. However, rain is expected to return by Tuesday with cities from Dubai to Muscat being threatened by thunderstorms.
This weather system will bring isolated thundershowers to central Saudi Arabia on Monday. The system will then move southward towards UAE and northeastern Oman by Tuesday and then will spread across much of eastern Oman on Wednesday into Thursday.
Although, these storms will not be as severe as the previous storms which hit the region from 7th March to 10th March, isolated flash flooding will still be a possibility.
Showers and thunderstorms will first move into UAE on Tuesday. Rainfall of upto 25 mm is expected across the region. Isolated heavy rain is possible in some areas with flooding concern being minor.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the thunderstorm threat will move to the south across much of eastern Oman. Locally developed thunderstorms will affect from Al Ain to Rustaq, this is the same areas which experienced flooding earlier this month. In a few areas there could be as much as 50 mm of rainfall.
In Muscat major thunderstorm activity will be seen Tuesday night through Wednesday night. However, it will not rain the entire length of time, this is when the threat of thunderstorms will be the greatest.
While flooding will not be as severe as the flooding earlier this month, any further flooding could be dangerous and the people in the region have been advised to be alert.
As the system moves out of the region, dry weather is expected from Friday into the weekend.
