Those seven coloured magical rainbows have always been able to capture our attention. And why wouldn’t they, aren’t they simply stunning? Well, be prepared to witness something even more magical.
A landscape photographer from the United Kingdom, Melvin Nicholson captured this rare marvel called the fogbow, aka a white rainbow. Yes, no colours here, a white rainbow it is! This stunning image was captured over the Rannoch Moor near Glencoe, West Scotland.
Melvin was exploring the village with his friend when they saw the tree and as they came closer, something misty had surrounded the area. That very moment, the sun had risen and the fogbow appeared. The rare phenomenon lasted for only about five minutes or so.
As per the photographer, he hadn’t witnessed something so incredible in his ten years of landscape photography. In fact, something like that hasn’t caught his attention ever since he was born.
For all those who have no idea what a white rainbow or a fogbow is, it is a white band in fog fringed with blue on the inside and red on the outside. The lack of colours here is due to the water droplets being way smaller than that of coloured rainbow.
