Thick fog in Brisbane disrupts air and road traffic

July 19, 2016 9:40 AM |

Brisbane fogBrisbane woke up to a foggy morning with nil visibility being reported at the airport. Fights in and out of Brisbane were delayed by more than an hour. Flights to Brisbane were diverted to Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast airports.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Australia, thick fog was spread across south-east Queensland, from Gold Coast to Toowoomba and parts of the Darling Downs. The weather improved by about 10 am as the sun shone mildly. It has been quite a significant fog event this morning in Brisbane as many flights were also cancelled.

Foggy conditions were reported in Sydney as well and on Monday, the city witnessed similar traffic chaos.

There seems a possibility of foggy weather in the lower lying areas and valleys on Wednesday. The day temperature could touch 24 degree Celsius in Brisbane. Gold and Sunshine Coast will witness similar weather, with some light winds blowing across the regions.
