A slow moving storm system will cause downpours across the UK till Thursday, thereby affecting the early week races at the Royal Ascot.
The downpours can trigger flash flooding and the strongest of the thunderstorms can produce hail and strong winds. The threat of flooding will be the most across England and Wales on each of the days till Thursday before dry conditions start from Friday. Localized downpours with rainfall totals in excess of 25 mm are possible on each of the days. This can result in traffic delays and flash flooding. These downpours could affect the Royal Ascot races in which eight races will be held daily from Tuesday till Saturday. It is expected that more than 3,00,000 people will be attending the Royal Ascot event. The threat of downpours will be most on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as it can dampen then track conditions.
On Thursday the Ladies Day festivities could be affected by downpours and mainly during the afternoon.
A high pressure area will be coming in from the Atlantic which will lead to drier conditions on Friday into the weekend. While there may be some showers in the Midlands and southern England on Friday but much of the day will be dry with sunny spells.
The maximum temperatures at the track will go upto 18 °C with frequent clouds and gusty winds, this will make it feel cooler from Tuesday into Friday.
The Diamond Jubilee Stakes, the final group 1 race of the Royal Ascot will be held on Saturday which will be a delightful day with dry weather and sunshine.
