Polar night in the Arctic has begun. However, something seems to have gone terribly wrong as temperatures in some areas happen to be at least 36 degree Fahrenheit more than it normally should be during this time of the year.

Not only this, arctic sea ice has hit a record low this year and the temperatures are at least 6 to 7 degree Celsius above normal in Arctic Russia. Planet earth is on its way to becoming the hottest year ever recorded and with this news climate change and global warming concerns only seem to be increasing.

During this time of the year, the Arctic usually witness long periods of darkness and extremely chilly temperatures. After the summer melt until the month of September, the Arctic ice starts to refreeze and only gets thicker October onward.

While the refreezing has begun, it is at a much slower pace than the usual. With the Arctic sea ice hitting a new low, concerns have been raised. The ice area is way lower than during the record-low in the year 2012.

Despite the onset of the Polar Night, temperatures are on a rise in the North Pole. During the year 2015 also, temperatures had significantly increased due a huge storm which had pushed all the warm air into the North Pole.
