Sydney heat

Sydney has been sweltering under one of the hottest summers in years. Since the beginning of this year, Sydney has seen as many as seven days of soaring weather where temperatures have crossed the 35°C.

Until Tuesday, Sydney was expected to swelter at 38°C while the western region of the city was likely to witness boiling weather with the mercury hammering above 40°C mark.

As per the Meteorological Department, if the mercury levels climb above this scale, it could be termed as historical summers for the city and could match the record of 1896.

After Tuesday, there will be good eight days of temperatures soaring above 35°C. In fact, the night temperatures are already said to have built a new record with mercury settling beyond 24°C at least four times in the city.

However, with the possibility of few light drizzles along with thunderstorms, temperatures on Wednesday are expected to drop significantly. Mercury may hit 26°C, on Wednesday, 10 degrees cooler than that on Tuesday.

Though, sultry weather is expected to make a comeback over the city by Thursday with temperatures expected to scale up again at 37°C.

As per the Meteorological Department, Sydney is the expected to observe rising temperatures over the weekend. Temperatures in New South Wales are likely to scale up to 41°C.
