Summers to stretch after Labour Day in Northeast USA

September 7, 2015 7:06 PM |

ne usaThe Labour Day usually marks the end of summers for the northeast region of USA. The Labour Day will be warm but the peak of the current heat spell will be felt after the Labour Day weekend.

The extended summer will feel more like end of July. A high pressure area that brought dry and comfortable conditions across the region will now give way to hot and humid weather. This will increase the discomfort levels during the early part of this week. The number of places that will register above 32°C will be more on Tuesday and Wednesday. This heat is attributed to the Jet Stream which is responsible for hot weather in the northeast. There is some relief expected during the weekend when the Jet Stream will weaken thereby, allowing cool and less humid air over the region.

Usually during this period temperatures are in the mid 20’s in New England and high 20’s in Mid-Atlantic. In cities like Boston; Providence, Rhode Island; New York City and Albany, New York; and Baltimore the maximum temperatures will be close to record breaking.

People venturing outside have been advised to drink plenty of water, wear light clothes and avoid strenuous exercises during midday and afternoon hours to prevent heat related illnesses.
