After a rather long period of dry and tranquil weather across the UK, a change to stormy weather will impact the Easter holiday weekend which will cause travel problems.
There are more than 20 million people expected to travel for the holidays, from Thursday to Monday. This will cause road, rail and air travel to slow down. To add to the misery the weather will be unsettled during the said time with a series of storms affecting the region. These storms will bring rain and gusty winds.
The first of the storms will impact on Thursday, bringing rain and gusty winds across much of UK. Although, dry weather will be there during the afternoon over South East England.
On Good Friday the weather will be largely dry with light winds throughout the day.
The second storm will impact western parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland on Friday evening, bringing good rainfall over the region. The heaviest rainfall from this storm will be witnessed during Friday night into Saturday. Travel disruptions on Saturday will be felt across the British Isles due to Heavy downpours and gusty winds. Rainfall totals of around 25 mm is possible with localized flooding. Winds of upto 65 kmph along with rail maintenance work will only add to the misery of the people.
Sunday will start on a dry note for most of the region. However, during the afternoon rains will increase across Wales and England. Scattered showers will impact Northern Ireland and Scotland during the same period.
The third and final storm will impact all of UK on Monday, bringing additional rain and gusty winds. This will cause travel disruptions for the returning people after the Easter holiday weekend.
