Sunday in Boston and other parts of Massachusetts was not like the other days. In fact, sunny weather had transformed the day into a stormy one wreaking havoc over the region. Both eastern and western parts of Massachusetts witnessed severe weather conditions.
Several trees were reported to have been ripped off. In Salisbury trees had reported to have damaged the roofs houses but no injuries were reported. Stormy weather also made its way to Groton where residents claimed that the storm sounded like a tornado.
After the passing of the storm, several cars were seen damaged under pine tree piles. In Maiden, a tree fell on a car. A couple was inside the car and while the wife suffered no injuries, the husband had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
Thunderstorm warnings were issued for several counties including Middlesex, Norfolk, Worcester, Plymouth and Essex. During the latter part of Sunday morning, eastern Massachusetts was affected by the storm.
As per reports, around 11:00 am on Sunday, more than 18000 people were left without power. A wind gust of 47 mph was clocked by Boston’s Logan Airport. As per the National Weather Service, due to the trees being stressed from drought, damage is more likely as storms move through.
