Storm in East USA

People from North Carolina to eastern Massachusetts should be prepared for a fast-moving storm that is potential enough to become a Nor'easter. Hence, resulting in heavy rain, winds and pounding surf this Tuesday and Wednesday.

The storm is expected to strengthen quickly as it would travel from the Northern Gulf of Mexico to Massachusetts. The experts have to say that the storm will be close enough to bring adverse conditions to coastal areas.

Chances of heavy downpour are likely today and on Tuesday which would result in significant rise in the small streams of Louisiana, North and South Carolina and southeast Virginia.

Parts of Florida, Georgia, Carolina would witness heavy rain in the wake of this storm. On hitting North Carolina, the storm is expected to strengthen. This would eventually lead to increase in wind speed with high tides.

Beach erosion and coastal flooding can occur, especially at high tide, where persistent onshore winds would drive the ocean water onto the coast. Tides may peak at two to three feet above normal. Heavy rain with strong winds gusting to 65 kmph would highly threaten the coastal areas. With this, flash flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, along with irregular power outages might be a sight. Cruise and ship men are advised to alter their itinerary and schedule until the storm moves away later in the week.
