Western Unites States is all set to witness rain soaking powerful storm along with strong gusts and snow. This is expected to be observed from Wednesday to Friday.
The impact of the storm will feast the Rockies to the Great Basin and Southwest. As per the Met Department, it is advisable for the people having outdoor plans to bring their plans to a halt for some time particularly in the second half of the week.
Parts of Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Colorado are also expected to be under the threat of flash flooding due to possibility of heavy rains and thunderstorms along with some destructive winds as well.
Moreover, road disruptions are also a possibility over the region as torrential downpour may possibly wash out some areas thereby closing the roads.
Thunderstorms will increase across the Southwest, following downpours and localized flash flooding from Paine early this week.
In fact most of the parts may also surpass their average monthly mean of rainfall for the month of September. The areas that may beat their monthly average include Billings, Great Falls and Bozeman, Montana; Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah; Pocatello, Idaho; and Elko, Nevada.
Moreover, the higher terrain regions may also observe some snow fall. This is basically due to the rain pouring in the lower elevations. Furthermore, snow levels may also lower down throughout the storm.
As per the weatherman, this may range from 8,000 feet in the mountains of northwestern Wyoming to 10,000 feet in the mountains of Utah and northern Colorado. Friday nights may also observe snow covered roads.
Wind gusts through the high passes may reach 35 to 45 mph at times. This would also loop in some cool breeze across the Southwest. The blowing dust could also affect the visibility of the area.
Along with this, there would be a gradual fall in the temperatures as well. From the range of 70°F to 80°F in the initial week, it may curtail down to 60°F and at some places may even reduce to 50°F.
Places such as Billings, Montana; Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Boise, Idaho; Flagstaff, Arizona; and Salt Lake City, Utah are the most probable regions to witness the fall in temperatures.
As the storm slowly pushes eastward, the threat for severe weather and flash flooding will shift into the central U.S. during the last weekend of September.
