Storm Emma to throttle Britain with blizzard, freezing rain

In Britain, the drivers are being warned as they could face major disruption due to heavy snowfall. This snow will cripple most of the country's travel network. According to reports, more than 20 cm of snow could settle by Wednesday bringing in the wintry blast. As the temperatures will tumble, the country will be seen facing the coldest weather since 1991.

Warnings have been issued as soon snow showers will be covering the south east and north east of England and the east midlands. Forecasters have predicted that up to 15 cm could fall in just a few hours. For vast swaths of the UK, a yellow warning is already in place since midnight.

People are expected to avoid travelling especially during the amber warning hours but people who will be travelling will be facing a lot of difficulties due to the extreme snowy conditions all round. Schools could be shut as school leaders top priority lies in the safety of teachers and students.

A new warning has also been put as Storm Emma is due to hit the UK on Thursday and Friday, which is expected to bring in heavy snow, freezing rain, blizzards and high winds.

As freezing temperatures continue into the week ahead, some parts of the UK are forecast to feel colder than the Arctic Circle.

Amber warnings of snow have been issued for north east, central and south eastern England for today and eastern Scotland on Wednesday.
