Storm Angus

Winter in Britain is expected to be colder, wetter and a bit more unpleasant than last year. As per weathermen, this year winter will bring storms, more harsh and incessant than last time.

The first major storm of the 2016/17 storm season is expected around the end of October and which will continue till April. To start with is Storm Angus. After Angus, the other storm that is likely to approach is Barbara, then Conor and at last Doris.

The Met Office name  these storms when they have the power to produce amber, "be prepared" or "red alert" weather warnings are given due to the strong winds and downpours.

Last year, Abigail was the first one which developed in the Atlantic on November 7, 2015, and battered the UK on November 10, with gusts at a speed of 84mph.

After Storm Abigail came short-lived Storm Barney, which swept across the UK on November 16.

On November 29, Clodagh hit most parts of UK, bringing winds at a speed of 90mph and causing major disruption on the roads and railways.

Five more named storms swept across the country in 2015 before a month-long break in January.

Weather experts observed the weather front as it gradually developed over the Atlantic.

On February 5 the Met Office gave satellite images displaying a vast bank of swirling cloud heading towards the UK, due to this the yellow weather warning to amber was upgraded.
