Spring season to knock on the door of Sydney

August 10, 2016 6:15 PM | Skymet Weather Team

After having one of the worst winters that the city has ever faced, Sydney is most likely to get over with the dreaded season very soon. The warming trend is still certain, with bright sunny days in the lower twenties expected at the beginning of the next week, with probably a high of 24°C tipped for Wednesday.

Statistics, also assures that winter's coldest spell is done for the country. Moreover, the winter solstice of June 21 with its shortest day of the year is now well behind us.

According to a meteorologist, the days will become longer and the temperatures will gradually begin to rise.

Further according to the meteorologist, mornings will be wintry for a while, mainly with the clear overnight skies expected for the coming week. Persistent cool air, behind a couple of cold fronts, will be moving over New South Wales.

Friday's minimum is likely to be at just 7°C, which will probably be the lowest so far in August. Since winter is losing its grip on the city, it takes just one powerful cold front to bring back the need for scarves and gloves.

Spring usually brings variable weather patterns as we can witness contrasting temperatures in the north and south of the country.

August can feel a bit more spring-like but in September we can get winter-like weather. But we are past the worst of it.
