Snow to cover parts of Northeast US

Weather in USA

A storm is expected to move in Northeast United States from the Midwest, bringing periods of cold rain and mass of heavy, wet snow in many parts from Wednesday night into Friday.

This new storm is likely to pour rains to Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City and Boston.

The storm will bring wet snow from parts of Upstate New York and Northern Pennsylvania to Northern New England through Wednesday night into Thursday.

More snow is expected to fall and amass in most places. Roads in the high altitudes may become slushy with up to several inches of wet, clingy snow on unpaved areas.

An episode or two of wet snow can happen as far south as the mountains of Western and Northern Pennsylvania to the hills in Northwestern New Jersey, the Catskills of Eastern New York and the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts and Northwestern Connecticut.

In parts of Northwestern Maine, Northern New Hampshire, Northern Vermont and Eastern Townships of Quebec, snow accumulations could be the greatest.

A few wet snowfalls are expected at the start of the storm from the northern and western suburbs of New York City to Hartford, Connecticut, Providence, Rhode Island and Boston.

South of the storm track, from West Virginia to Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Southern New Jersey, a short period of warmth can occur with the period or two of rain on Thursday.

The combination of rain and fallen leaves will make roads more slick in absence of any snow in southern areas.

Following this storm into Thursday night, another storm will affect the area through Saturday to Monday.

Temperatures are expected to average above normal during much of the next week. However, toward the middle of November, temperatures are likely to slide back to normal.
