On Wednesday afternoon a storm will bring rain across much of northwestern Spain with good rainfall occurring in Galicia. This rainfall is enough to cause some minor travel delays. The rain will spread across much of Spain on Wednesday evening.

This system will collide with cold air rushing southwards causing the rain to change to snow across the Cantabrian Mountains, Leon Mountains and the Pyrenees. The snowfall will not be heavy but for the higher elevations, on an average upto three inches of snow accumulations is possible with higher accumulations of upto six inches over the Cantabrian Mountains.

The rain will change to snow over the Iberian Mountains and the Meseta Central and accumulate upto three inches. North of Meseta Central minor snow accumulation is expected across the region including, Leon, Salamanca and Burgos where snowfall will cause dangerous travel condition on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Snow accumulation will generally one inch or less across Meseta Norte. South of Meseta Central there will be a mix of rain and snow and no accumulations is expected. This includes Madrid, Toledo, Caceres and Cuenca.

Travel conditions will improve on Thursday as the snow will convert to rain and become less intense across much of Spain. From Friday into the weekend mainly dry conditions will be experienced across much of Spain.
