Flooding rains are expected to lash South-Central Turkey as snow is also expected to pave way for travel disruptions on some mountains areas.

Rounds of rain and snow are predicted to appear in close proximity of Mersin and Adana, South-central Turkey from Wednesday until Friday. The reason for this weather can be attributed to a slow-moving storm system.

A total of rains ranging from 25-75 mm (1-3 inches) is expected to lash the regions from Cyprus to coastal Mersin Province, including the lower raises of Adana Province and adjoining regions.

As close to 6 inches of rains can be expected. The highest accumulations of rains can be predicted in the southern slopes of the eastern Taurus Mountains.

Moreover, with each possible round of rains, the risk of flooding and mudslides will also increase. As per the weatherman, cold air is also expected to plunge southward thereby paving way for substantial snowfall.

North of Mersin and Adana can also expect the snow levels at 600-900 meters from Wednesday until Friday. This could even lead the snow to accrue on many roads crossing the eastern Taurus Mountains. In fact, by the weekend approaches, snow totals is expected to exceed 45 cm in most of the mountain regions. This could even lead to travel disruptions.

The totals will still not be as extreme as is measured in the mountain regions across the Adana and Mersin. This could affect the travel and daily routines in Karaman and Konya. Some light snow spells could also make their appearance from the northward to coat Ankara.

Temperatures are also expected to plunge 4-8 degrees Celsius below their normal in the later part of the week. Istanbul may also witness temperatures settling in lower single digits in Celsius along with some gusty winds also lashing the state.
