Snow drought to end in Northeast USA as New Year approaches

USAAs the end of the year approaches, so does the much-awaited snowfall, rain and blizzard in parts of United States of America. The northeastern parts of USA that were reeling under snow-starved December are expected to witness season’s first snowfall as winter storm is likely to reach by Tuesday.

Wintery December that felt more like spring due to absence of cold air and above average temperature is all set to see the first major snowstorm of the season in Northeast.

The cold weather comprising of snowfall is expected to lash to parts of New York and Boston by Monday evening. The effect of this winter storm will be felt in Northeastern parts including Chicago and parts of Canada including Toronto and Montreal midweek and result in sleet, heavy rain and isolated snowfall on the New Year’s Eve and first few days of the first week of January.

Areas of snow, sleet and rain will continue across the midwestern and northeastern United States into Tuesday morning, creating difficult travel conditions. Due to inclement weather, flight delays and cancellations are also possible in these areas.

Snow will continue to pile up across the upper Great Lakes and from upstate New York into New England through Monday night.

The upcoming cold weather is expected to bring respite to people who were witnessing relatively warm weather in last few months. However, the winter turned upside-down across U.S. during past few weeks, especially during Christmas holiday season, is most likely to feel its true colour as the week approaches towards 2016.
