Snow blankets Sunshine Islands of Spain; holidaymakers disappointed

Brits those who are planning to enjoy a vacation in Spain to get relief from the wintry chill prevailing in the UK are expected to return to their homes disappointed. Freaking snow storms have choked the famous Spanish sunny holiday spots Benidorm and Majorca

Both these hot travel spots of Spain were blanketed with snow. Instead of the sunny spells, the Majorca Island is relishing icy and snowy weather with temperatures plummeting to -2°C. This has led people to step out with their winter gears on instead of the beach wear.

Despite witnessing a balmy 17°C, which is the average temperature that Benidorm witnesses in the month of January, the mercury plunged below to zero degrees Celsius overnight. Moreover, road traffic in the small Majorcan village of Valldemossa came to a standstill due to the white snow.

Most of the beaches and pools at the Costa Blanca were also covered with a thick snow blanket when the mercury dipped several notches and settled at 7°C.

As of now, no weather warning has been issued for Benidorm but rain and gusty winds at 50 mph for next five days are still predicted. Thus, people traveling or planning to travel to the sunshine islands have to wait for a few more days for the weather to clear up and for the snow to completely get cleared to witness the sunnier days back. However, as per the weatherman, Britain is expected to stay warmer than Spain next week.
