Winters have not been good so far for China and the air quality of the country during this season has dropped significantly. The toxic smog has blanketed most parts of the northern China from quite a few weeks now and has badly affected the Pearl River Delta region.

The second largest global economy has been witnessing several episodes of haze and mists. Most of the far-flung areas like Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region have also observed the smoggy weather. After almost a month of battling with the severe air quality, Beijing has planned to launch a new police force to fight the persistent smog issue.

The new environmental police force, as the city’s acting mayor announced, will take charge over the weekend. To curtail the prevalent smog, the police force will break down on ‘open-air barbecues, garbage burning, biomass burning, dust from roads and other factors that lead to air pollution leaving the cities enveloped in thick, brown smog. As per the weatherman, China’s air pollution is mainly the cause of coal burning and unproductive vehicles.

Last week itself, China has issued a red alert for fog in some northern and eastern regions. As close to 72 cities were under pollution alert.

Pollution is poisonous and as per the WHO reports, more than a lacks of deaths were reported in the year 2012 which was all due to the polluted air quality which is as per the reports, highest in the world.
