Seasonal temperatures have been prevailing across Germany for a while but, unsettled weather is on its way across much of the country. This is due to a series of storm systems that will move across Germany this week.
This quite the opposite to the weather that was experienced at the start of the month, when dry conditions were dominating the weather.
As of 10th April, the Berlin Tegel Airport had not seen any rainfall, while the temperatures were about 3°C above normal for this time of the year.
The first of the series of storm systems will start affecting from Wednesday and this will break the dry spell. This system will move into Germany and will bring showers and thunderstorms to Bavaria and Baden-Wuttemberg, with some afternoon rain to Rheinland, Hessen and Thuringen. Some of the afternoon thunderstorms could produce damaging winds and large hail especially in Baden-Wuttemberg
Dry conditions is expected to return on Thursday but only briefly and that too for the western and central parts of Germany. The spell of rain will depart from Berlin and its surrounding areas during the morning hours. The conditions will also be cooler and cloudy in many areas.
On Friday another system will move across much of Germany, this time there will be more widespread rain and thunderstorms over the region. Strong westerly winds will accompany this system.
The weekends will not be appropriate for outdoor activities. Saturday and Sunday will be the coldest days of the week. Warm and dry weather will not make a comeback until early next week.
