Warm and humid conditions are projected to return to the central parts of United States early this week.
According to weather experts, severe thunderstorms are possible over most parts of the Plains and Midwest on Tuesday and Wednesday, as a cold front is likely to sweep across the region which will bring unsettled weather conditions.
Moisture-laden winds will gush northward from the Gulf of Mexico resulting in frequent showers and thunderstorms.
Flash flooding and damaging winds will be the main threat from these storms. Some storms could also produce some hail.
Grand Forks and Fargo in North Dakota, Sioux Falls and Aberdeen in South Dakota, Omaha and Grand Island in Nebraska, and Hays in Kansas will be on the lookout for changing weather conditions.
A few storms may also reach parts of southern Canada from Winnipeg in Manitoba, to Thunder Bay in Ontario. These storms will lead to delays in road and air travel. Incessant rains can lead to flooding at several places.
The storms will move eastward into parts of Minnesota and Iowa during the evening and throughout the night, reaching Minneapolis and Des Moines in Iowa.
The threat will move farther south and east to parts of Missouri to Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin including the cities of Kansas City and Chicago on Wednesday.
Thunderstorms are likely to push into the Ohio Valley on Thursday and the Northeast on Friday.
