After a couple of days of locally heavy thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in parts of eastern and central US, the risk of severe thunderstorms will increase across parts of the Midwest on Wednesday.
Massive storms are expected to occur over western parts of Dakota and eastern Montana along with parts of Iowa on Tuesday.
Some of these storms will move southeastwards and might cause life-threatening conditions and damage to properties. The areas to get affected include portions of Iowa to parts of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Kentucky and West Virginia on Wednesday.
The intensity and the area which will be the hardest hit will depend on the path of the storm system. Also, it would depend on as to where the hot and humid air meets the cold and dry air.
On Wednesday, a major threat from the storms will be in the form of gusty winds and flash flooding. However, some of these storms can be accompanied by large hail. One cannot rule out the possibility of tornadoes as well. Travel disruptions can be expected.
The cities that will be affected on Wednesday include Des Moines, Iowa; Chicago and Peoria, Illinois; Milwaukee; Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Indiana; Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and Huntington, West Virginia.
